Mercure Maldives Kooddoo Resort Officially Opened

Bringing stylish mid-scale accommodation to the pristine south of the country, Mercure Maldives Kooddoo Resort opened on 25th September with a grand ceremony accompanied by a firework display.
The resort was officially opened by the President of the Republic of Maldives Mr. Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom. Ceremony was attended by President as chief guest, Tourism Minister Moosa Zameer, Chief of Defense Force Major General Ahmed Shiyam along with the Singapore’s Ambassador to Maldives.
In addition to this several high-ranking officials from Pristine Island Investment, Hotel and Resort Construction and Accor Hotels attended the event.
Speaking at the opening ceremony Kooddoo Airport’s Chief Executive Officer and the chairman of Hotel and Resorts Construction- which is partnered with Singapore’s Pristine Island Investment- Mohamed Ali Janah asserted that the Mercure Maldives Kooddoo Resort is the first ever water villa resort built on an airport island in Maldives.
A memorandum of understanding was also signed at the ceremony between tourism ministry, Pristine Islands Investment and Hotels and Resorts Construction to create 1,000 training and employment opportunities for the youth from Gaafu Alif Atoll.


With the opening of Mercure Maldives Kooddoo Resort, Kooddoo Airport which is currently operated as a domestic airport has been upgraded to code “C” Category Airport which will allow Private jets, Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 aircraft to fly directly to Kooddoo Airport.


Mercure Maldives Kooddoo Resort, a style mid class four-star resort boasts 68 villas comprising of 43 Over villas and 25 beach villas with 20 of them designated with a private swimming pool.


Located in the Island of Kooddoo airport, Mercure Maldives Kooddoo Resort is the only resort in the Maldives directly accessible via, the airport with no additional speedboat transfer required. The island is also home to Kooddoo fisheries complex, which is the largest fish processing plant in Maldives.


The resort is built using local materials, bright colors and stylish furniture and interiors designs to reflect the Maldivian culture and the spirit of travel.


Guest can indulge in attractive dining selections. The Alita Restaurant which offers an All-day dining menu, serves Pan-Asian à la carte cuisine and themed buffets both indoor and outdoor seating. The Alita Pool bar offers cocktails and light bites with a view.


The resorts Suvadiva Divers, a five-star PADI dive and water sports centre, offers aquatic excursions to nearby unique locations and several water sports options such as, snorkeling, sailing, kayaking, windsurfing, also available.


Furthermore, the resorts facilitate several recreational activities such as, a 50 meter lagoon-side swimming pool, a fully equipped fitness centre, tennis court, kid’s club and off-island day trips.


Resort’s Suvadiva Spa, offers a range of relaxation and rejuvenation treatments and therapies for guests.


The scenic over water restaurant and lounge, Vistas, serves tapas, snacks and handcrafted cocktails.


Mercure is the French based “Accor Hotels” newest installment. The French tourism outlet hub aims their services primarily to budget travelers.
