On May 3rd
2018, Four Seasons Resort at Landaa Giraavaaru became the first place to launch
submarine excursions in DeepFlights most advanced model: The Falcon 3S.
DeepFlight Adventures takes upto two guests on a once-in-a-lifetime sub aquatic exploration of the Maldives’ only UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, Landaa Giraavaru’s Baa Atoll home.
A professional pilot helms the underwater-craft, as it skims over coral formations and flies through schools of brightly colored fish and breathtaking close up encounters with turtles, sharks, dolphins and rays. Guests can explore Maldivian waters and its diverse marine life dwn to a depth of 120 feet (37 metres) – All without getting wet.
“At Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru, we have long been aligned with DeepFlight’s mission to bring awareness to the oceans. These submarine excursions redefine marine exploration and bridge the gap between the world we see above the waves and the one that exists below. We couldn’t be prouder to be the first resort in the world to launch the DeepFlight Super Falcon 3S.” said by Armando Kraenzlin, Four Seasons Regional Vice President.
In collaboration with leading water sports operator, Ocean Group Pvt. Ltd, the Super Falcon 3S represents the pinnacle of personal submarine technology: battery operated and environmentally friendly, the Falcon “flies” through the sea offering safety, comfort, style and 360-degree view of the underworld through its individual viewing domes, which are pressurized and air-conditioned.
Its flight inspired design enables it to glide effortlessly over reefs and its minimized electric and acoustic emissions allows it to cruise alongside dolphins and other sea-creatures without disturbing them and It never lands on the seabed or reefs.
The pilot narrates each dive with real-time commentary, educating and inspiring guests about the underwater ecosystem.
As safety is the number priority for DeepFlight, the Super Falcon 3S is certified by Lloyds Register, a leading marine classification group and its safety features involve a fixed positive buoyancy, a patented thrust and lift that system enables it not only to “fly” underwater, but to automatically float back to the surface in the unlikely event of a power loss, all the while being monitored by a team on the surface that monitors the submarine during each dive and staying in communication with the pilot via an underwater communications system.
Four Seasons Resort at Landaa Giravaaru is located in the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, Baa Atoll. It is host to 103 villas and is only a 30-minute seaplane flight from the main Velanaa International Airport.
