Earth Day 2018 Celebrated in Kurumba Maldives
Every 22nd April, millions of people all over the world gather to celebrate Earth Day, holding different activities to commemorate our home planet.
Kurumba Maldives hosted a number of such activities for both guests and team members. The day began with the House Reef and Lagoon cleaning organised by Kurumba’s team, followed by an act of tree planting around the island. A special Green & Back of House Tour was also conducted by the recreation team that coincided with the grand opening of their second Green House on the island. To end the day’s celebration, a traditional Maldivian “Bodu Mas” show was held during the resorts weekly management cocktail.
Kurumba Resort was the private island resort in the Maldives when it opened its doors in 1972 and celebrates its 45th anniversary this year. The resort is situated just 10 minutes via speedboat ride from the airport and offers an array of accommodation, ranging from comfortable superior rooms to the luxurious and spacious Royal Residence, as well as offering eight different restaurants and four bars to choose from.
Also to honour Earth Day, two of the resorts restaurants; Café and Thila , offered a special discount on their vegetarian menu. Keeping in with the theme, glass bottles were used in place of plastic bottles in all the food and beverage outlets as well as the rooms mini bar.
