Air France to schedule flights to Maldives in November
Starting from the 1st of November this year, Air
France will be scheduling two weekly flights to Velana International Airport.

These flights, the latest Air France travel cabins, equipped with, with a capacity of 312 seats and will be operated by Boeing 777-200. The seating options include 28 in spaces in Business, 24 in Premium Economy and 260 in Economy.
With the addition of Maldives to their destination options, Air France is making tourist destinations in the Indian Ocean more accessible. Reaching out to the French clientele, with whom the destination is extremely popular with.
The CEO of Air France, Mr. Franck Terner said in his statement, “The arrival of Air France in Malé strengthens the company’s presence on top-of-the-range leisure destinations, a growing market where Air France, with the quality of products and services it offers its customers, is a leader. Air France is also the European leader in services to the Indian Ocean, a position further strengthened by this new destination”
These new flights depart from Paris on Wednesdays and Saturdays and depart from Malé on Thursdays and Sunday. AF222 leaves Paris-Charles de Gaulle at 20:50, arrives in Malé at 10:20 the following day and AF223 leaves Malé at 13:05, arrives at Paris-Charles de Gaulle at 19:35.
The Boeing 777 flight to Malé offers comfort in the skies. Passengers enjoy the luxuriously designed space in the Business cabin and refurbished seats in the Premium Economy and Economy cabins.
Premium Economy customers can enjoy new, softer seat cushions and a footrest with a variety of different options for positions, further improving the comfort in this cabin. In Economy, the newly installed seats have been completely refurbished, providing the user with more space, new seat cushions, softer headrests and a wider tray table.
There are also new features such as electric sockets and headphone holders. As far as inflight entertainment is concerned, the HD touch screens are considerably larger: 12 inches in Premium Economy and 9 inches in Economy. This comes with movies, games and music.
The Business cabin offers seats that adapts to the shape of each user, from seating position to a real 2-metre long bed. The seat is made of soft foam to offer impeccable quality of sleep. With the passenger’s optimum sleeping comfort in mind, they are also provided with a soft duvet and XXL-sized feather pillow. In addition, each seat also comes with a 16-inch wide HD touch screen.

The inauguration of these flights would mark the first of its kind as there has never been direct flights between the Maldives and France before. Currently, the French tourists that visit the Maldives have to travel transit through Sri Lanka, Qatar or the UAE.
