Co-hosted together by six resorts, It’s about to be “Better in Baa” with a two-week long summer festival in Baa Atoll
It’s always been ‘Better in Baa’ and now it’s about to get even better with the announcement of a two-week long, Summer Festival in Baa Atoll. Six resorts located in Baa Atoll, the only UNESCO Biosphere in the Maldives, have come together to kick off Summer with a bang – The “Baa Atoll Summer Festival 2018” will be the first ever and one-of-its-kind festival that will be held from 20th July 2018 to 3rd August 2018.
The six resorts participating in this – Soneva Fushi, Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru, Dusit Thani, Amila Fushu, Vakkaru Maldives and Finolhu – will be bringing the best each resort has to offer, as guests from each resort will have the opportunity to experience the varied cuisines Baa Atoll offers as a destination. This also allows guests to have a taste of each resorts creativity and service, as well as a chance to explore other islands during their stay.
The announcement of this event was held on 9th May 2018 as all participating resorts came together to the Soneva Fushi sandbank, bringing with them chefs, marine biologists and team leaders. The announcement was also endorsed by the Maldives Association of Travel Agents & Tour Operators MATATO.
“The Baa Atoll Festival is a brilliant concept and opportunity, and hopefully becomes an annual event that resorts and guests look forward to. And I hope this festival will be marketed to tourists around the world through all these resorts PR channels”, says MATATO President Abdulla Ghiyas.
“The aim to attract more visitors to the Maldives requires a focus on positioning and promoting Maldives as a destination. A country like the Maldives could be open to marketing ideas from other top tourist destinations,” said Mark Hehir, General Manager, Amilla Fushi
The Baa Atoll Festival will officially launch on Friday, 20th July 2018 with a cocktail event in each of the resorts, where the teams will celebrate with their guests on the opening night. The following day, on Saturday 21st July, each resort will welcome guests from the other participating resorts with a special set menu for dinner in their featured dining restaurant, for the next two weeks on designated nights.
This allows each resort to showcase its dining prowess and the resort itself to visiting guests. Transportation will be organized by the respective resorts on a daily basis for a minimum charge of USD $25++ per person. Each resort will also present a set menu for guests at a price of USD $120++, with a special menu for children. If the guests wish to repeat their experience at a specific resort, special arrangements will be made to accommodate the same.
During the Baa Atoll Festival, each resort will also offer a calendar of activities to keep the entire family entertained ranging from water sports to kids activities. The festival will come to a close with a ceremony that brings the teams together again on the sandbank for a Catamaran Regatta competition on Sunday, 3rd august.
The teams have together to show their unity in the form of a dedicated website and social media that will constantly be updated with beach activities, events and water experiences. With this first ever event, the Baa Atoll destination has created a benchmark for itself and the Maldives alike.
