“We were looking for CSR Opportunities at that time. On our inquiry, we found that Kudakudhinge Hiyaa was struggling to meet the very basic needs of children. We found it essential to meet those needs and make others in our industry aware of providing care and support to orphans and vulnerable children.” said Ali Farooq, Assistant Food and Beverages Manager and local head of CSR activities in Kurumba Resort, with regards to how the annual event started for the 40th anniversary of the resort.

The set up for the 5th ‘party with a purpose’ was done by Event Maldives. They also had support from a taskforce of more than 55 hardworking team members from Kurumba resort that volunteered cheerfully for the cause. The photography and videography of the event was done by Think Advertising and Digital Studio.

“It’s the fourth consecutive year being able to participate for such a noble cause. On top of everything, it’s a get together for all musicians and we always have a great time“ Mauroof Khaleel, a top artist and a talented DJ talks about volunteering for the cause.

“We make so much money out of resorts. Its amazing that Kurumba has begun ‘Party with a Purpose’ just to give back to communities. Not many do that.” said Mishy Athif. The young and talented artist has been performing for resorts mostly.

The Kudakudhinge Hiyaa orphanage, located on Villingili, established in 2006 and Hulhumale, recently opened in February 2016, hosts children between the ages of 6 months and 21 years old. This is a self-supporting service that requires help from the community and industry in order to continue providing a caring, safe and educational environment for these children.
